Outdoor Room
We added a pergola and trellis to this deck, which was built over the garage and needed some shade and privacy. Adding a pergola above and a trellis to block the western sun helped turn this deck into a better place to hang out in summer.

It was a little tricky adding this structure to the existing deck without puncturing the garage roof. We built the columns to grab the brick wall, and bolted through the brick wall to gain strength. In doing so, we realized that we could build a miniature pergola along the bottom to dress up the brick wall above the door.
